Appalachian Patria

Appalachian Intellectual. To me that means plain thinking. I am A Non Commissioned Officer in the Army Reserves. Let me say...My views expressed here are mine and not those of The U.S. Army, Army Reserve or my fellow brethren in The National Guard. This is entirely Sua Sponte. This is My Thinking. I'm single and in my mid 30's. Politicaly, I'm a Libertarian. (Again, Sua Sponte.I do not represent the Libertarian Party.)I love my native Appalachia, Rock n Roll and...I love God.

Name:
Location: Brevard, North Caroilina

I started blogging for two reasons. I was concerned about the changes to the area I live in, Southern Appalachia and I was about to go to the war. I was in Iraq in 06 and 07 and now Kuwait in 11 and 12. Blogging was a means of documenting my experiences and hoping it would help gain clarity. I don't feel that way about it any more. It's said people write blogs because they are frustrated, that's why people read them too. That makes us sound apocalyptic. Are we? Let it be said, what I say here is of my own thinking. This is entirely Sua Sponte and not an official representation of the U.S. Military or the U.S. Government as a whole.

A Few Random Things

Jumper, Glory and my .308 Winchester(Wincester Model 70), above the Little Tennessee River Valley, Macon County NC.

I have many things to do. I'm off of work tommorow and going Hunting. I beleive it will be a good morning. Winter Weather is moving in and the Deer should move first thing. 24 hours out of a storm the woods go dead, then jump alive right before it hits. Friday and Saturday I will have a 14 year old boy with me. He's the son of some freinds and no one in their family Hunts. He's a good kid and wants to Hunt...heck he's dieing to Hunt. If he doesn't get to go then he could get lost from the sport, an American Tradition.

Holiday or Christmas? It's Christmas...hence Christ, the day we celebrate his birth. If you don't beleive in him, then don't celebrate it. How hard can that be? The whole thing is a bunch of non sense and we have better things to do than to worry about offending some one. It's so darn comercialised anyway.

I'm reading a book by H. John Poole, Militant Tricks, he states that today's Soldier in Iraq uses 22% more fuel than a WWII Soldier. That's very interesting, but, not suprizing. The American Soldier today also packs more Fire Volume than his WWII and Korean War Grandfathers, not Fire Power. M-16 variants are not as powerful as a Garand. But, that's not the reason he uses more fuel.

The last book I read was Neil Boorts Fair Tax Book. I passed it on to a Co Worker and made Twister a beleiver. Want to know more? Go here.

Remember the story I shared? I've started to pick it back up...it's getting tossed in my head again. What does that have to do with you? I'm not sure....

You're to be commended AI for taking on the responsibility of a 14 yr old on his first deer hunt. Just curious, what's he gonna hunt with? Thirty-thirty? .270?

So I am to be tolerant of Kwazzaa, Passover, Ramadan, and nekkid guys beating a tom tom in the forest, but it is too much to ask that they tolerate, or at least just quietly ignore, Christmas.

I'm not quite one of those "Love Christmas or leave America" proponents. I'm more like one of those "Love Christmas or be quiet or shut up" kind of guys.

PS: Why are your word verifications so long? This one is zaqhmmor... that's 8 letters long!

Gunner, I think I'll put my mean little 12 Gauge in his hands. I'll load him up with Slugs. He has been Hunting before, but, not much. I'm kinda excited about taking him.

Ed, I don't have any comtrol over word verification...are you directing those comments to me? You mean you don't walk around with a tom tom naked in the woods? I don't know about you boy...
Ha! I got 6 words! gqcbbq Count em 6!

Me, I am glad to hear that you are keeping the hunting tradition going but I am more anxious to read more of your story.

Hope you have fun hunting!
I totally agree...."Holiday or Christmas? It's Christmas...hence Christ, the day we celebrate his birth. If you don't beleive in him, then don't celebrate it. How hard can that be? The whole thing is a bunch of non sense"

I think the bigger point is that you not believing in something should be a reason for you not to celebrate it, but not be grounds for allowing others to.

You, of course being Whoever", and not you Murf.

I think conversely that even as a non-believer you can celebrate something. I'm not a baseball fan but watched and cheered for Boston. Because it was so miraculous to so many others. I just got caught up in the excitement.

Come on, AI. I think your verifying thing is out to get me: ymovkxjy. That 8 letters again!!

I left out a word above that kind of changes the meaning. It should read:

I think the bigger point is that you not believing in something should be a reason for you not to celebrate it, but not be grounds for NOT allowing others to

Red Queen, if I gave more people would only want more. Since it's unfinished, I best get it wrote and published.

Now on my Chistmas Comment, Lee Ann I'm glad you agree, Murf your picking a fight. I don't beleive in vampires, but, I don't celebrate halloween...What am I talking about? But, you get the point. Ed, I understand ya man...I have 7 letters. It looks like a user name Twister would use.
Dang, I'm It!
